Who are Wigan Y.B.C.? Our aims are to promote tenpin bowling for youngsters in Wigan , to provide them the opportunity to take part in organised league competition and tournament play, To provide coaching and instruction for all members of the Wigan Y.B.C.
The Y.B.C. is open to all children from 8 to 18 years old. We meet every Saturday from 10a.m.-2p.m. at A.M.F. Wigan, Miry Lane for league bowling, coaching and practise sessions.
We have fully trained instructors who give free coaching. You don’t have to be good at bowling to join and you can bowl at the level you want. The main thing is to have fun.
Many Y.B.C. members bowl in the league programme at A.M.F. Wigan, and often show the grown-ups how to do it!!
We are affiliated to the N.A.Y.B.C. (National Association of Youth Bowling Clubs) who in turn are part of the B.T.B.A. (British Tenpin Bowling Association).
We hope through our efforts and the efforts of many other adults to instil in all children a love for bowling, not only as a sport but also as a form of social recreation that they and their families may take part in for the rest of their lives.
Bowling in organised youth leagues provides the best opportunity for young people of all ages to learn the values of sportsmanship and fair play.
The fact that bowling teaches co-ordination, co-operation, friendship and many other attributes vital to the growth of a healthy child, and may be played alone, with a friend, with family, or in competition with others of like ability, makes it a most popular sport all over the world.
The Club is proud to represent Wigan at competitions throughout the country and we never leave without our ‘secret weapon’, a large jar of Uncle Joes Mintballs.
